Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme

The Tier 5 Youth Mobility visa is a visa scheme that enables young people aged between 18 and 30 to come to the UK for up to 24 months, and they are allowed to work in employment and, subject to some limitations, in self-employment. The scheme is only open to the following categories of applicant:

Nationals of:

Australia, Canada, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan

And holders of the following British nationalities:

• British Overseas Citizen
• British Overseas Territories Citizen
• British National Overseas

There is no English language requirement

It is not possible to switch into a Youth Mobility Scheme visa in the UK; entry clearance must be obtained from outside the UK.

The Youth Mobility Scheme is a “once in a lifetime” visa, i.e. a migrant cannot be granted this visa more than once in their lifetime, and neither must they have been previously granted leave as a Working Holidaymaker.
